Born and educated in England, after building my career in accounting, I realised I wanted to broaden my potential career options beyond accounting, so I applied and was accepted to the MBA course at Cranfield University in England.
Shortly after completing my MBA I moved to the middle east where I worked for over 8 years as a consultant with Ernst & Young, and for the last 6 years in Dubai, as CFO or the Dubai Aluminium Company, a major industrial facility owned by the Ruler of Dubai, before moving to Australia, and have lived and worked in Sydney with my family now for over 25 years.
During my corporate career, I held “C-Level” positions (CEO, CFO & GM) for 25 years, in companies of all sizes, from new start-ups to large corporations, in multiple industries in 6 countries, and was Chief Financial Officer of 3 “ASX Listed Top 50” companies in Australia.
10 years’ consulting and advisory experience in the Middle-East, Australia & New Zealand, working with Business Owners and CEOs, initially to explore potential opportunities they are not taking action on, and priority problems they are too busy to resolve. Then working with them as their trusted advisor to increase individual and organisational performance and value.

Corporate Career Highlights include:
- Venture Capital Acquisition of Sunbeam Victa. Appointed CFO & led business transformation. Improved EBIT from ($7m. loss) to $16m profit, in first 2 years. Appointed CEO when CEO resigned for health reasons.
- Qantas CFO – Played leadership role in Profit turnaround from loss of ($300m.) to EBIT of $156m in 12 months. I was also heavily involved in the acquisition & integration of Australian Airlines into the Qantas business.
- Australian Consolidated Press (ACP) – CFO/General Manager. Renegotiated company’s paper & printing contracts, providing major competitive advantage & increase in annual profit more than $2 million.
- Optus Communications – Finance Director. During my tenure, Optus achieved maiden profit (at EBITDA level).
- Australian Kitchen Industries (AKI) – Negotiated & led private-equity buy-in. As MD, my team and I grew the business from annual sales of $12 million & loss of $2 million, to sales of $65 million & profit of $5m, over 6-year period.
