Did you know that you can train your brain to develop new desirable thought patterns and habits and eliminate those less desirable ones you would rather not have?
Deepak Chopra explains that the root of our bad habits and negative behaviours lies inside us, where all our beliefs, and self-judgments begin.
Unlike computers (so far at least), the human brain can decide how to change its wiring so that newly created pathways start to weaken and then erase undesirable reactions or habits.
But of course it can’t do this on its own. It requires your conscious help and training to start to rewire those undesirable pathways. In this article Deepak explains a 3 stage technique to eliminate certain ways of thinking that may have become wired into your brain and are the source of a bad habit or negative behaviour that you would like to change.
We all have some habits or thought patterns we would like to get rid of don’t we? I certainly have a few that I am still working on.
I have been a fan of Deepak Chopra’s writing for a while now and his book “Synchro Destiny” is one of my most read books and it sits on my bedside table within easy reach if, for whatever reason, I can’t sleep.
My favourite part is his explanation of 7 powerful Sanskrit Sutras (A Sutra is a Mantra with a specific meaning) that I use in rotation as my daily meditation and reading.
Interestingly, as I have memorised these 7 sutras and their meaning, I have found that one of them will always suit a particular situation or problem I am faced with at any time, and that if I meditate for a few minutes by simply relaxing my mind and repeating the Sutra silently to myself, I usually manage to see the issue with a different perspective, or even eliminate my fears or concerns completely.
I thought I would share with you one of my daily affirmations that certainly works well for me, and I have found very useful to simply say to myself when I become overwhelmed by something or simply start to doubt that I can complete a specific task or project, or act or be in a certain way..
It is really very simple but the deeper meaning is profound:
“I am free of limitations. I can do whatever I will to do, and I can be whatever I will to be”
Have a great day!
